Emelia Earhart
Arguably the most famous aviatrix in history, Amelia Earhart has piqued imaginations for decades. Her goal of becoming the first woman pilot to circle the globe is hugely inspiring to young girls even today, so many years after her mysterious disappearance.
The mystery of Amelia Earhart has plagued historians for years. In 1937, the legendary aviator disappeared somewhere in the South Pacific while attempting to become the first female pilot to circle the globe. Earhart's path mostly mapped the equator's route. The only other person with her was her navigator, Fred Noonan.
